Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former physician stands accused of carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
