Cameron Norrie earned the most notable victory of his professional journey by coming back from a early deficit to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the early stage of the prestigious indoor tournament.

Although he had earlier defeated Alcaraz on two prior meetings, this victory signifies Norrie's initial win over a current world No 1.

The British player, ranked No 31, also ended Alcaraz's supreme run of nine straight final appearances and 17 straight elite tournament successes, which marked the best series of outcomes in the Spaniard's developing career.
