Exactly Twelve historical items were formally restored to Ethiopia following staying by a German family for more than 100 years.

These items, originally collected in the early twentieth century by Germany's then-envoy to Ethiopia Franz Weiss and his wife his partner, were transferred on midweek to the research center at the university in Addis Ababa.

The collection included royal crowns, armor and artistic works, all viewed as culturally valuable in Ethiopia.

"These artefacts continue to stand as a symbol of the long-standing and amicable connection between the German nation and the Ethiopian people," said Germany's envoy, Germany's envoy to the East African country.

Dr. Ramon Wyss, whose father was born during the household's service in the nation, handed over the objects at a gathering witnessed by the Minister of Tourism the tourism official.

He explained that the household's aim to give back the artefacts was to "share their splendor with the people and preserve the heritage and history tied to my parent's origin."

These objects were either considered gifts or acquisitions, based on the relatives.

"I would like to thank Professor Weiss's family for practically showing their sincere affection for the nation by meticulously safeguarding these artifacts and importantly securing their homecoming to their legitimate homeland," said the official.

The minister noted that the items would in the near future be available to the general audience for study and academic study, calling the action a significant step in preserving the nation's national treasures.

"Actions will continue to return historical items that are located in the hands of individuals and institutions around the globe," she affirmed.

During colonial rule in the African continent, thousands of traditional artefacts were taken.

This request by nations in Africa for the restoration of taken items has been met with some positive outcomes in the past few years - though some objects are only on temporary return.

In two years ago, the German government was the pioneering country to give back a portion of the renowned Benin artifacts to Nigeria in an attempt to deal with its "troubled past."
