The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official conducted a ceremonial pardon event this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
