Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a California Car Crash
The visionary game developer, who helped create the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.
Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.
The celebrated industry figure died after his automobile collided and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.
"This is a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his family, and everyone impacted by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
