NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text of Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , after recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions each conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus Denver, who play in London this weekend.

However it proved good to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that battle.

They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could position two LBs in the interior then drop them out and send a nickel from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up significantly and new running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad that wants to run first, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in favourable down and distances.

It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, which is different, plus he is highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, the capacity to pass while moving, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise under pressure and is not really fazed by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

If you constantly run the ball it consumes time and forces the defence to be on the field for longer, and if you have a mobile QB the defense must cover the area downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.

Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's fun for him to have a rookie QB who's kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly build something up how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.

Payton has won a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements Denver are having offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him what he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this path.

They're really good at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the NFL started recording takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.

It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
